Remembering 9-11

Hosted by the Pace Family

The events of Sept. 11, 2001 will be remembered and the heroism of emergency service personnel honored at a special 9/11 ceremony here at First Baptist Church this Saturday at 2:00 PM. Based on the theme “To Serve and Protect” the event is designed as a time of reflection, with attendees encouraged to share what 9/11 means to them.

Dear Church Family,

Grace and peace be yours today through fellowship with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! September greetings to you from your older and hopefully wiser pastor. I want to thank you for all the birthday wishes and cards and a special “Thank you” to the awesome group of men that presented me with my deer mount. It looks great in my office! Everyone is invited to stop by and see my first deer!

I want to remind you of our 24 hour prayer vigil this coming Saturday September 11th from 9am till 9am Sunday morning. Even as I write this I received a letter from a pastor in Washington state who is concerned for our country and encouraging churches to join in prayer. It is evident everywhere we look that we are in need of a great moving of God’s Spirit upon our nation, community, church and individual lives. I ask that you seriously consider this opportunity to join together to pray for these matters, especially that God’s Spirit would move within our church! We need His healing, encouraging, convicting, reconciling touch that all the world will know that He is God!

Lifting Him Up with You,

Bro. David

Operation Christmas Child

There is a table set up in the foyer of the worship center for details and instructions. It is also the drop-off point for boxes you put together and for any items you wish to donate. If you have any questions, contact Kay Pace at 392-4487 or Lora Klein at 392-4873.

In August we are collecting school supplies: small pads of paper, pens, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, markers, crayons, scissors, glue sticks (no liquid glue), small solar calculators, etc. We have a lot of pencils left over from last year, so we don’t need pencils. All items have to be new.

FOLLOW A BOX
If you would like to sponsor a box to discover the destination of a shoe box, go online to www.samartianspurse.org. Make at least a $7.00 donation per box to cover shipping using a credit or debit card. You will receive an EZ Give label included in your e-mail receipt. Print the label and bring it to the church office. We will put it on the outside of a box that has already been filled with gifts and supplies. This will enable OCC to track the gift. You will receive an e-mail telling you the destination of the box. If you would want to sponsor several boxes, print the original label as many times as you need.
